Infused water or detox water is made from mineral water combined with pieces of fruit. This drink has become popular because it is claimed to bring many benefits. But is that right?
Have you ever seen someone carrying a bottle of mineral water filled with lemon slices or other fruits? Such is what is called infused water. Infused water is made by adding pieces of fruit to a bottle of mineral water. After stirring, the bottle is immediately closed and stored in the refrigerator for at least overnight so that the taste and juice blend with water. Usually after being soaked in water for quite a long time, the pieces of fruit become soggy and discarded because of the unfavorable texture to eat
Claims Regarding the Benefits of Infused Water
Lately infused water is popular and has become part of a lifestyle because it is believed to bring many health benefits to the body. Though these claims are not necessarily entirely true. Lemon slices added and consumed with mineral water are claimed to be a good detox for the body. The idea of detox comes from the belief that poisons can accumulate in the body and with a special diet or detox, these poisons can be eliminated. But there is no evidence that toxins accumulate in the body over time, because if this is the case, the body will often get sick. Detox diets or diets have not been clinically proven to be beneficial to the body.
Anti-aging
Mineral water combined with antioxidant-rich fruits, such as pomegranates and strawberries, is considered to be a powerful tool against the effects of aging. Antioxidants are useful to ward off free radicals that have a negative impact on the body. Eating lots of fruits and vegetables shows positive results in inhibiting the aging process. Drinking infused water can provide more benefits in anti-aging compared to drinking water alone. But if you want to maximize the amount of antioxidants in your daily diet, don't limit the fruits submerged in infused water. Eat a variety of fruits and vegetables directly too.
